Portrait of a Graduate

Help Design Belmont's Vision of a Graduate

Belmont Public Schools is taking a lead in transforming 21st-century learning by actively involving the community in creating a Portrait of a Graduate, a collective vision articulating the community’s aspirations for all of its students.

At the Sept. 24 School Committee meeting, Superintendent Dr. Jill Geiser introduced the district's new Strategic Plan, which begins with developing this Portrait of a Graduate. “It’s essential that our district collaborates with our community to create a Belmont Portrait that describes what our students need to be ready for life,” said Assistant Superintendent Lucia Sullivan. “Success is not just about knowledge, but also how you communicate, collaborate, innovate, and think critically.”

The Portrait of a Graduate will be locally developed but globally positioned. Belmont Public Schools is inviting community members to contribute their perspectives to the collaborative process. The district will update families and community members on the progress of the Portrait of a Graduate at district and school events and will seek feedback to guide its ongoing implementation.
